Preheat the oven to 400°F/200°C. Prepare a baking sheet with a small amount or oil or baking spray.
Measure the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl and stir to combine.
Measure out the milk and set aside.
Add the butter and use your fingers to pinch it into the flour.
Add the milk and mix well. The dough will be very wet.
Dust a flat surface with a small amount of flour and turn the dough out onto it.
Dust a little more flour on the top of the dough and begin to shape into a rectangle about ¾" tall.
Cut the dough or use a biscuit cutter to the desired number of biscuits. I usually make six, square biscuits so I don't have leftover dough.
Transfer to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12 minutes or until the tops begin to turn brown.
If desired, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter after removing from the oven.
