Fried Brie with Tomato Marmalade

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces 120 grams brie, sliced crosswise (I got 4 slices)
  • 1/2 cup flour seasoned with salt pepper and smoky paprika
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs mixed with crushed dried parsley
  • oil for frying
  • tomato marmalade
  • orange slices for garnish

Instructions

  • Dredge the sliced cheese in flour, then egg wash, the generously coat with bread crumbs. Transfer to a tray and let stand for a few minutes while the oil is heating.
  • Cover the bottom of a medium skillet with 1/4" of oil and heat until the surface shimmers.
  • Carefully arrange the cheese in the pan and fry about 3 minutes per side, taking care when turning. The breading should be golden brown and the cheese will be soft but still retain its shape.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Serve with tomato marmalade served on top of the orange slices.
